Hello everyone – well it appears we may becoming out of this Covid slump we’ve been in for the past two years. Although Grandmaster Abraham had to close the gym, he did continue training in open air parks or at individual homes. Now, the good news is as of January 2022, classes are being held on Wednesdays from 5-6pm; and on Saturdays from 10:30-11:30am at: 1009 Golf Course, Suite 104, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.

Meet Grandmaster Abraham

Great Grandmaster Abraham Quartey-Papafio is a 7th Dan Black Belt and has taught for over 40 years.  He has trained individuals to be World Champions and Olympic Representatives.  He has trained large groups, one of those being the Nigerian Navy; he played an integral part in the development and organization of both the Ghana and Nigerian Taekwondo Associations. 

So How Does Taekwondo Training Help Stop Bullying?

The obvious answer most people think of. Is that a martial art gives kids a way of hitting back. Or kicking back. And that is true. Taekwondo kids do learn to kick and punch, but that’s only a small part of the picture.  We see good taekwondo training go much deeper.

Firstly there’s the increase in self-confidence that comes with taekwondo training. Bullies tend to pick on quiet, weak and scared kids. Or alternatively bullies choose kids that are arrogant and cocky. We see the kids in our taekwondo training sessions become quietly confident young people. They feel self assured inside. And they don’t need to shout about it.  And this affects the way they hold themselves. The way they walk. And the way they talk. And bullies tend to stay away from children like this.
